WELCOME TO THE 4th ANNUAL
MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST MARATHON
We are thrilled to be hosting the fourth annual Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon, a Coastal Running Fest.
Founded in 2015, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon, a Coastal Running Fest, showcases the local culture with a beautiful beach side run from Pass Christian to Biloxi. Kick off the weekend at our Runner Village at MGM Park in Biloxi. Saturday morning is our Chevron Mississippi Gulf Coast Kids Marathon 1 mile run and our Margaritaville 5K at Point Cadet Plaza in Biloxi. The NEW Harrah’s Gulf Coast Beer Mile is Saturday afternoon at Harrah’s Great Lawn followed by a full/half marathon along the coast on Sunday. Runners who run the Margaritaville 5K on Saturday as a warm-up to the Sunday races get one of our coveted seafood tray Double Down awards. Our weekend will culminate in a relaxing post-race party in MGM stadium with incredible seafood and barbecue to eat as you watch runners cross the finish line on the jumbotron.
For more specific details about the event schedule, see our 2019 Event Schedule Page
Ruck for Rugrats was created by an organization called the 5th Squad. This organization is made up of a group of combat veterans who wanted to do something for the children who are set apart during the holidays due to their illnesses. Veterans often feel set apart because of their combat experiences. The 5th Squad wanted to show the kids of Children’s of Mississippi Hospital that they are loved and not forgotten.
5th Squad is hosting a Ruck for Rugrats event on Dec. 14, however many of us have already committed to the Gulf Coast Marathon and will be out of town. So, RUNable, Team RWB Jackson MS and RUNstrong have gotten together to host our own “Ruck for Rugrats Part 2” the following weekend!
One of our goals is to collect toys for hospitalized children, so from now until Dec. 12, you can drop your NEW and unwrapped toys off at RunStrong for delivery by us to 5th Squad prior to the event. Then you can choose to register here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/5th-squads-4th-annual-ruck-for-rugrats-mississippi-registration-76947553203?fbclid=IwAR03yDFiPvzvnU2ARSkUQSw8fv4wlTgpgpWbtg70b6PyF9y16R3moGAQoys&utm_term=eventurl_text
Register BEFORE Nov. 29 for the event if you’d like a t-shirt. (The money raised from t-shirt sales will also be donated to Children’s of Mississippi Hospital!)
Finally, join us on Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at RunStrong Headquarters for a 4.5 mile ruck with friends. BYOR – Bring your own ruck and come ready for a rucking good time!! #RuckForRugrats #RWB #Somehow #Someway #GetInvolved #EagleFire #WeGetVets #RunStrong #RUNable #TeamRWBJackson
The Great Scorpion Trail Run is coming to Bonita Lakes Park in Meridian, Mississippi on January 4th, 2020. Bonita is one of the region’s great trail systems and has a little known characteristic; scorpions. What better way to pay tribute to these little critters than to give them their own race. Join us for Mississippi’s newest ultra. Choose from either the 50K, 25K or 12.5K but come be a part of this amazing race. Benefiting the National Alopecia Areata Foundation.
The 2020 Race will have a cap of 250 registrations across all races.
A great mix of Single Track and Jeep Trail. The Great Scorpion Trail Run will offer roots, rocks and hills to challenge you, while the views through the trees of Bonita Lakes will make you smile. The final leg of single track for the loop is the Mardi Gras Trail complete with Mardi Gras beads and a welcoming downhill. Each loop ends with you passing the RFID antennas to capture your split. The parking area is right on the course, so feel free to setup your own pit stop without having to venture far away from the course. This course is marked really well. From Red plastic plates with the Scorpion logo to red and black flagging tape to neon green arrows and marking sprayed on the ground; we put a lot of effort to keep you on the right track so you only have to focus on running.

A RUNNING FESTIVAL WITH LAGNIAPPE
The Louisiana Marathon is so much more than a run, we are a culturally rich festival that celebrates both running and the unique and festive culture that defines us.
Louisiana is well known for its festivals, where we celebrate the incredible food, music, and dancing that surrounds us. The Louisiana Marathon adds running to that mix for a truly unforgettable weekend. Come run a fast, flat, and fun race course and then enjoy a true Louisiana Festival featuring local musicians, locally brewed craft beer, and some of the best southern cuisine around.
The Louisiana Marathon was established in 2012 with a 2-fold mission. The first was to encourage our community to embrace a more active lifestyle and help us become a healthier, fitter state. The second was to be a major racing event on the winter road racing calendar known as a unique running festival that celebrates passion for the sport of running combined with Louisiana culture.
Each Rendezvous running festival is scheduled for Martin Luther King Jr. weekend which takes place in Louisiana’s capitol city, Baton Rouge. As a multi-race format there’s a race for everyone: marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles), quarter marathon (6.55 miles), 5K (3.1 miles) and a kids marathon (1 mile).
Each year friends, family, and curious spectators line up along miles of picturesque roadways, filled with inspiring Louisiana sights and sounds to cheer on runners from 50 states and over 32 countries. The Louisiana Marathon course takes runners from downtown Baton Rouge through the University Lakes, the Louisiana State University campus, and through historic river town neighborhoods.
Its s0 much more than a race. Come see what lagniappe is all about.
